Winning this contest would change my life beyond words. I have wanted/needed weight loss surgery for over 10 yrs now. And although my Doctor supports my desire for surgery; my insurance does not cover it and I can't afford it on my own. I am 36 years old; Deaf and weigh 396 lbs. I have tried other weight loss remedies with no success over the years. I work in education in the Edmonds Deaf and Hard of Hearing program with children pre-8th grade. As you can imagine; it takes a lot of energy to be with the kids. These children are close to my heart because they are the future of our Deaf community. I want them to see a HEALTHY; strong; African-American Deaf woman. My weight affects every aspect of my life. My health; my mobilty; and my self esteem. The energetic Rhonda on the inside doesn't match the energtic Rhonda on the outside. Those around me know my desire and have joined me in my quest to somehow obtain the surgery. A co-worker and another close friend have both had the band surgery from you all and have been sooo successful. I pray for the same success. I sincerely ask to be chosen for this surgery. Thank you.
